2025 was marked by preparations for the partnership between Heidelberg and Mannheim University Hospitals, a strategic and organisational project of international significance. Together with its partners, the alliance will shape the future of healthcare, research, education and translation, thereby strengthening the Rhine-Neckar region as a leading centre for health and biomedical sciences. Heidelberg University’s Faculty of Medicine is among Europe’s internationally renowned biomedical research institutions. In 2025, this position was reaffirmed by outstanding scientific achievements, record success in securing competitive research funding, and excellent results in medical education.
