Elias suffers from spinal muscular atrophy - a dangerous hereditary disease that often leads to an early death if left untreated. Thanks to the doctors, researchers, and nurses at Heidelberg University Hospital and modern gene therapy, this little boy is alive and will continue to bring his parents much joy in the future.
